Chicken Shawarma Ingredients
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs cut into strips
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp ras el hanout
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper optional

Method
 

  1. Combine olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, ras el hanout, cumin, turmeric, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Add chicken strips to the marinade and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook chicken until cooked through and slightly charred, about 5-7 minutes per side.
  5. Warm the pita bread or wraps.
  6. Fill each pita or wrap with chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cucumber, tahini sauce, and harissa (if using).
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, marinate the chicken for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to fully develop.
