Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix softened butter, sugars, egg, and vanilla until fluffy.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add to wet mixture.
  3. Shape dough into balls, roll in extra sugar, and place on baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden. Cool on wire rack.

Notes

For extra chewy cookies, slightly underbake and let them cool on the baking sheet.
