CHOCOLATE PEPPERMINT BLOSSOMS

Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate kisses, unwrapped
Garnish
  • to taste crushed peppermint candies for sprinkling

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl; cream butter and sugars, then add egg and extracts.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients; form tablespoon-sized balls and place on sheet.
  4. Bake 10-12 minutes, press a chocolate kiss into each cookie, then cool and garnish with crushed candies.
