Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Add-ins
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup M&M's or holiday-themed candies
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl; cream butter and sugars, then add egg and vanilla.
  3. Combine dry and wet mixtures, then stir in oats, chocolate chips, M&M's, and nuts.
  4. Scoop dough onto baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden.
  5. Cool cookies on sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the dry ingredients.
