  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar plus extra for dusting
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts walnuts or pecans
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Cream butter and powdered sugar until fluffy, then mix in vanilla and almond extracts.
  3. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until just combined, then fold in nuts.
  4. Form dough into 1-inch balls and place on baking sheet, spacing evenly.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes until bottoms are golden. Cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar.
