Ingredients
  

Dry ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Add-ins
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup mini marshmallows (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl; cream butter and sugars, then add egg and vanilla.
  3. Combine dry and wet ingredients; fold in chocolate chips and marshmallows if using.
  4. Scoop dough onto baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes; cool on wire rack.

Notes

For softer cookies, slightly underbake and let sit for a few minutes before transferring.
