  • 2 pounds beef chuck roast
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 4 hoagie rolls hoagie rolls
  • 4 slices provolone cheese (optional) optional
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional) optional

Method
 

  1. Pat roast dry, rub with oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. Sear beef on all sides until browned (3-4 minutes per side).
  3. Transfer roast into the Crockpot.
  4. Mix beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce; pour over beef.
  5. Cook on low for 8 hours, or until beef is tender.
  6. Remove roast, let rest for 5 minutes, then shred.
  7. Place shredded beef back into Crockpot to soak in juices. Slice rolls, melt cheese if desired.
  8. Fill rolls with beef, serve with au jus, garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use a high-quality beef broth and consider adding a bay leaf to the Crockpot during cooking.
