Method
- In a large bowl, sift powdered sugar to remove lumps.
- Beat egg whites until frothy or combine meringue powder with water as per package instructions.
- Gradually add powdered sugar to egg whites, mixing on low until combined.
- Add vanilla and lemon juice, then beat on medium until stiff peaks form (5-7 min).
- Divide and add food coloring if desired; mix until uniform. Thin with water if too thick.
Notes
Use immediately or store in an airtight container to prevent drying out.
