Ingredients
  

Dry ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix dry ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Add molasses and egg, mix well.
  3. Gradually add dry ingredients, then fold in chocolate chips.
  4. Scoop dough onto baking sheet, flatten slightly. Bake 10-12 minutes.
  5. Cool cookies on wire rack before serving.

Notes

For softer cookies, slightly underbake and cool on the baking sheet.
