Method
- Mix flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
- Cream butter and sugar, then add molasses and egg.
- Combine dry and wet ingredients, chill dough for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C), roll out dough, cut shapes, and bake 8–10 minutes.
- Cool cookies and decorate with royal icing.
