Ingredients
  

Green Beans
  • 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cups sliced mushrooms
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Blanch green beans in salted water for 3–4 minutes, then cool in ice water.
  2. Sauté onions and mushrooms in butter until soft. Stir in flour, then gradually whisk in milk until smooth.
  3. Combine sauce with green beans in a baking dish. Top with crispy fried onions.
  4. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a dash of garlic powder or cheese to the sauce.
