  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • Optional powdered sugar or chocolate frosting for decoration Optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9 inch pan.
  2. Melt butter, then stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  3. Mix in cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder until smooth.
  4. Pour batter into pan and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  5. Cool, then cut into heart shapes and decorate as desired.

Notes

Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter for perfect shapes.
