Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Cream butter and sugars, then add eggs and vanilla.
  2. Mix in flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir in oats and chocolate chips.
  3. Drop spoonfuls onto baking sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  4. Cool cookies on sheets briefly, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For softer cookies, bake for the shorter time; for crunchier, bake a bit longer.
