Meat
  • 1 pound turkey sausage
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 cups cubed bread (preferably stale)
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg, beaten

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook sausage until browned; sauté vegetables and herbs.
  3. Combine bread, sausage, broth, butter, parsley, and egg; mix well.
  4. Transfer to a greased dish, cover, and bake 30 minutes. Uncover and bake 15 more minutes.
  5. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of white wine to the sausage mixture.
