Method
- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C) and line baking sheets with parchment.
- Mix sifted almond flour and powdered sugar; beat egg whites with cream of tartar until foamy, then add sugar and beat to stiff peaks.
- Fold dry mixture into egg whites in three parts; divide batter, tint one with red, pipe small circles for Santa's hats and faces.
- Let macarons sit 30-60 mins, then bake 15-18 mins; cool before filling and decorating with frosting and chocolate chips.
Notes
Ensure macarons sit long enough to develop a skin for better baking results.
